Scholarship Terms

Last updated:

These terms apply to the Balitecture Architecture Scholarship, an annual design competition run by Balitecture for architecture and drafting students in Indonesia. By entering, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms. Please read them before you submit your design.

1. Who runs the competition

The scholarship is run by Balitecture, an architecture and development firm based in Bali, Indonesia, at Jl. Pemelisan Agung Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Badung 80361.

Entry is free. There is no purchase or payment of any kind required to enter or to win.

2. Who can enter

To enter, you must:

  • Be an Indonesian citizen.
  • Be currently enrolled in an architecture, building design, or drafting program at a university, institute, or SMK in Indonesia.
  • Enter as an individual, in the track that matches your level. One entry per person.

Employees of Balitecture and their immediate families are not eligible. If we cannot confirm that you meet these conditions, your entry may be set aside.

3. How to enter

Enter through the form on this page before the closing date shown above. Late entries are not accepted.

Your entry must be your own original work. You may use AI image tools, architectural software, or hand sketches to produce it, but the design and the idea must be yours. Your entry must not copy another person's work or infringe anyone else's rights.

Each track asks for a different set of files. The university track asks for renders, a simple floor plan, and a short written concept. The vocational track asks for a couple of renders and a one-line concept.

4. Your design and your rights

You keep full ownership of your design and all intellectual property in it. Entering does not transfer your rights to us.

By entering, you grant Balitecture a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, reproduce, and display your entry, along with your name, your design title, and your school, on our website, our social media channels, and in related promotional material, with credit to you. This licence lets us feature winning and shortlisted entries. It does not stop you from using or publishing your own design however you wish.

You confirm that your entry is your own work and that you have the right to grant this licence.

5. Judging

Entries are judged by the Balitecture team on uniqueness, feasibility, and creativity, as described on this page. For the university track, feasibility includes how the design handles function, climate, and Bali's seismic conditions.

The judges' decisions are final, and we cannot enter into discussion about individual results. We will contact entrants who are shortlisted. If a track does not receive enough entries of a suitable standard, we may choose not to award a prize in that track.

6. Prizes

The prize for the University Track winner is a cash scholarship of Rp 15,000,000. The prize for the Vocational Track winner is a cash scholarship of Rp 10,000,000. Runners-up are recognised and featured, but do not receive a cash prize unless we state otherwise.

Prizes are paid by bank transfer to the winner after enrolment has been verified. A prize is personal to the winner. It cannot be transferred to another person or exchanged for a different prize.

The winner is responsible for any tax that applies to the prize under Indonesian law.

7. Verifying winners

Before any prize is paid, winners must confirm their identity, their Indonesian citizenship, and their current enrolment, through their school or with supporting documents.

We may disqualify any entry that breaks these terms, is not the entrant's own work, or cannot be verified. If a winner cannot be verified or does not respond within a reasonable time, we may award the prize to another entry.

8. How we use your information

We use the information you submit to run and judge the competition and to contact you about your entry. Entry data is kept separately from our marketing lists, and entering does not add you to any marketing list.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. It is linked at the foot of this page.

9. Changes and cancellation

We may change the dates, the prizes, or these terms, or pause or cancel the competition, where it is reasonably necessary to do so. If we make a material change, we will post it on this page.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any dispute connected with the competition is subject to the courts of Bali, Indonesia.
