Design
Hitam means black, and the villa earns the name. Charcoal stone cladding, smoked timber, blackened steel and low pendant lighting set a darker, more cinematic register than its two sisters. The pool reads almost ink-coloured against the surrounding deck. One of three interconnecting villas in the cluster, Aura Hitam sleeps part of the 24-guest project total and is laid out over three levels, with its own private pool, terrace and sundeck. The most adult, evening-leaning of the three: well-suited to creative retreats, content shoots and rental guests drawn to a moodier, design-forward palette over conventional tropical brightness.
Two Balinese bale pavilions anchor Aura Hitam, a three-bedroom modern tropical villa in Bali designed by Balitecture: one beside the pool and one on the roof. The pool runs along the garden, crossed by pale stepping slabs and edged on one side by a timber deck. The poolside bale is a timber pavilion with a hipped shingle roof and a woven pendant, and a carved stone Buddha head spouts water back into the pool.
Indoors the palette darkens: a wall of dark grey stone runs behind the living room television, and the kitchen joinery, slab dining table and bedroom panelling are all deep red-brown timber. Bedroom ceilings rise to a central point, with exposed timber rafters, woven panels between them and concealed lighting around the edge. In the bathrooms, turquoise scale-pattern tiles sit against grey stone, and one ensuite has a freestanding tub.
Upstairs, bedrooms open through glass sliders onto balconies with glass balustrades, and horizontal timber louvre shutters screen part of the upper elevation. The rooftop bale shelters an L-shaped sofa, and sunbeds sit behind a glass balustrade looking out over the neighbouring rooftops.
