Modern Tropical
Design
Putih, the white one. Lime-washed walls, pale travertine, bleached timber and full-height openings keep the volumes bright through the day, with a Mediterranean lightness rare in this part of Bali. Furniture is minimal: bouclé, raw linen, the occasional sculptural piece. Aura Putih is the third villa in the connecting cluster of three that together accommodate up to 24 guests, arranged over three levels with a private pool, outdoor terrace and sundeck of its own. The most photogenic and editorial of the trio, it works as a stand-alone holiday rental, a wedding-party base or the public-facing villa when the full cluster is booked as one.
A long blue pool sets the layout at Aura Putih, with the house wrapped around two sides of it. A whitewashed timber pergola shades the walkway along one edge, and a timber deck runs along the other past the ground-floor bedroom, where a rattan chair hangs beside the sliding doors. In the far corner, a pool bale with a shingle roof shelters a cushioned daybed in front of a carved timber panel and a stacked stone wall.
The same pale palette carries through all three levels. Ceilings are lined in woven bamboo between whitewashed rafters, radiating from the centre in the bedrooms. Beds are four-poster timber frames with carved headboards, and the kitchen pairs timber cabinetry and open shelves with a live-edge dining table under dried-grass pendants. In the bathrooms, timber vanities hold vessel basins under carved mirror frames; one has a freestanding bath by the window, another a wall of dark fish-scale tile.
At the top, a covered pavilion with a ceiling fan, a long sofa and a glass balustrade looks out across the surrounding rooftops and palms. Balitecture designed this three-bedroom Modern Tropical villa in Bali as one of a connected cluster of three. Aura Putih has its own pool, terrace and sundeck, so it works alone or with its two neighbours when the cluster is taken as one.
