Island Breeze

Commercial beachfront development on Île de Boulay, Abidjan. Mixed-use plan: beachfront lounge, retail space, bar, and pool deck on a single plot. Modern Tropical detailing carried across all four programmes.

Island Breeze is a Modern Tropical design for a commercial beachfront plot in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, with the pool, cabanas, bar and shops arranged in a line towards the sea. The entrance is a heavy timber portal set into walls of white stacked stone, with a slatted screen above and a planted bed of cacti and boulders beside the step.

The pool is the centrepiece. It sits raised above the timber deck with clear panels at its ends, so the water shows in section, and curtained cabanas line both sides on the way to the beach. Around it, the plan adds dining tables on the sand under parasols, a grill station beneath a pergola and a row of outdoor showers on a rendered wall.

The same timber and white stone carry indoors. A restaurant room sits under exposed timber beams and beaded chandeliers, and a boutique uses timber ceilings and open rails for swimwear. The bar faces the pool from under a pergola hung with woven pendants. Behind the scenes, the design includes a commercial kitchen, staff washrooms and an office.
