The Abu

Three-bedroom The Abu villa, 104m² build. Compact footprint with a tighter palette than most of the portfolio: grey, white, black, and natural timber. Off-form concrete walls offset by warm wooden furnishings. 2022.

The Abu is drawn as two linked volumes on a 117 square metre plot: a two-storey box at the front, its upper bedroom screened by vertical timber battens, and a lower wing at the back whose roof edge is planted so greenery trails down over the glass. A long, narrow pool runs between the wing and the boundary wall, with a timber deck alongside, and in the renders the end of the garden opens to rice fields.

The living room is a sunken lounge in pale stone, set against a feature wall of dark textured stone tiles that holds the television. A planter at the corner of the pit brings green right into the seating. Behind it, the kitchen pairs black timber cabinets with a white island and woven bar stools under black rattan pendants, and the stair rises behind a screen of black vertical slats.

Outside, a small sunken seating area with a concrete table sits by the pool. This Modern Tropical villa in Bali keeps its three bedrooms to the same tight palette of black, white and grey with timber accents, and the bathroom uses black fittings against pale stone tiles. A perforated breeze-block wall runs along the side boundary.
