Villa Maudy

Four-bedroom Villa Maudy in a Tropical Minimalist style, 970m² build on a large estate plot. Open-plan layout with multiple lounge zones. Material palette stays in beige and soft brown - calm without going monastic.

Villa Maudy, a Tropical Minimalist design for Bali, keeps a closed face to the street: a white rendered wall with a timber door, and above it an asymmetric pitched roof, its gable faced in pale panels beside a column of floral breeze blocks. Past the door, the rooms are arranged around the pool.

Maudy's living room is double height, with a gallery landing upstairs looking down through black steel balusters and a timber handrail. Floor-to-ceiling glass runs along two sides and a dark stone wall holds the television. A low timber shelving unit backs the sofa, dividing the lounge from the dining table and kitchen island, and timber boards line the ceilings.

Outside, grey stepping stones cross the pool to a large green urn fountain on a rough stone plinth, and a pavilion on timber posts, with a woven ceiling and rattan lanterns, shelters an outdoor dining table. The bathrooms are tiled in deep green with freestanding tubs, and the four bedrooms keep to timber floors, with a carved timber medallion on a dark stone wall in one of them.
