Villa The Hitam

Two-bedroom villa from the 'Tiny' range. Modern tropical detailing on a compact 95m² footprint. Designed for couples, small families, or owners who want a higher-yield small build instead of a large family villa. Same finish standard as the larger Balitecture houses, on a tighter envelope. Built in 2021.

Hitam means black in Indonesian, and this two-bedroom modern tropical villa from Balitecture's Tiny range takes the name at its word. Dark speckled stone clads the columns and parts of the walls, a black stone panel runs up the side beside a strip of vertical timber, and a white upper box with a timber soffit caps the whole thing. The upper bedroom opens onto a balcony with a glass balustrade and a timber handrail.

Downstairs, full-height black-framed sliders open the living room onto a timber deck and a small plunge pool edged in black stone, with a hanging chair under the overhang. A long white bench sofa faces a stone TV wall, and the kitchen runs along one side in honey-toned timber, with a concrete counter, rattan pendants and a letterbox window above the hob.

Upstairs, the bed sits in an alcove framed by vertical timber boards, with black lava stone blocks behind the headboard. A small lounge on the same floor has a timber sofa and tall timber louvres at the window. The bathroom is half outdoors: a freestanding tub sits among broad-leaf plants beside a floating timber vanity, and the shower stands against rough stone. Balitecture designed The Hitam to fit 95 m² of floor area onto a 110 m² plot.
