Zig Villa

Zig Villa is a three-bedroom Modern Mediterranean villa in Nyanyi, designed by Balitecture for a private client on a 150-square-metre plot. White render, arched windows and a natural stone wall frame a 1.7-metre-deep pool with built-in seats and a bar, and a sunken lounge under a galam wood ceiling opens straight onto it.

The brief was a spacious three-bedroom villa on a small footprint. With only 150 square metres of land, the house goes up: living, kitchen and pool share the ground floor, and the roof is a second living space, with a barbecue, a long dining table, a sauna and plenty of built-in seating looking out over the nearby rice fields.

The sunken lounge is the main living space. It sits beneath a galam wood ceiling with glass above it, so daylight falls through the timber in stripes across the room, and floor-to-ceiling sliding windows open it straight onto the pool and the gardens. The television sits in an arched niche, and the seating wraps around a low round table on three sides.

The pool is deep enough to swim in properly, at 1.7 metres, with built-in seats and a bar area, and it runs up to a natural stone wall with a cushioned lounge built into it. Inside, a full-size kitchen centres on a dark timber island with seats for four. The main bedroom is spacious, with a textured feature wall behind the bed and a green-tiled bathroom with a freestanding bath. The other two bedrooms are a generous size too, and there are three bathrooms in all.

Zig Villa was completed in 2026 and is let on a long-term rental.
