Casa Cemagi 3 Bedroom

Three-bedroom villa in the Cemagi 'Baliterranean' style: Mediterranean shapes over a tropical floorplan. Bedrooms use arched headboards as a built-in feature, with timber and natural finishes throughout. 168m² build, completed 2023.

The three-bedroom Casa Cemagi plan has just 99 m² of land to work with, so the pool takes the side of the house. In the renders it runs long and narrow between dense planting and black steel-framed glass, finishing at a white arched niche with a cushioned bench. A rattan egg chair hangs by the doors, and planters on the upper floor let greenery trail down toward the water.

Inside, the living room drops into a sunken lounge with fixed seating on three sides. The kitchen sits behind it under the same timber-lined ceiling, with a terrazzo island, timber stools and arched display niches. White floating treads lead upstairs, where exposed timber beams cross the bedroom ceilings and each bed sits against an arched recess or an arched black-framed window. Bathrooms carry terrazzo tubs, black tapware and slim capsule mirrors, and one opens onto a planted courtyard.

The roof becomes a second living area. The design gives it timber sun loungers between palm planters, a terrazzo dining table, and a pergola over an L-shaped sofa and a square fire pit. In Cemagi, this is the Baliterranean idea at a small scale: whitewashed walls and arches from the Mediterranean, laid over a tropical plan that keeps most of its living outdoors.
