Casa Petak 1 Bedroom

One-bedroom Casa Petak villa, 94m² build. Compact footprint built around a single-flow open plan from kitchen to living to pool deck. Tropical Mediterranean finishes - natural stone, timber, white walls. Designed for the short-term rental market.

Casa Petak's one-bedroom design fits a 101 square metre plot in Bali without giving up a proper pool. Black-framed folding doors open the living room straight onto a pale stone terrace at the water's edge. At the far end, the pool stops at a white wall with an arched alcove and a bench seat, lit by a pair of woven wall lights and backed by palms.

Inside, the Tropical Mediterranean look comes from a short list of materials. Textured white walls hold arched niches with lit shelving, fluted timber covers the doors and the panels either side of the bed, and a slatted timber ceiling runs over the kitchen and lounge. The lounge drops a step below the floor around a long, low sofa, and the kitchen is a plain white island with two timber stools beneath shaggy dried-grass pendants.

The bathroom is open to the sky. A freestanding white tub stands against a rough stone wall with planting at its foot, and the shower and basin line the white wall opposite under a black rain head. Around the pool, a traveller's palm, banana leaves and red-leaved shrubs fill the narrow beds, so the main rooms all look onto planting.
