Suku Residences 2 Bedroom
About the Project
Modern Tropical
Design
Two-bedroom villa within the Suku Residences development, 108m² build. Contemporary detailing, dense planting on every boundary for privacy from neighbours, and a generous open-plan living area that runs directly onto the pool deck.
The ground floor runs on a single axis. Kitchen, dining and living sit in one line from the entry through to the pool deck, with full-height glass along the pool side that slides away completely. Standing at the kitchen you can see the length of the villa and out to the water, which is what stops 108m² from reading as small.
A sculptural steel stair turns through the middle of the plan. It takes less floor than a straight flight would and doubles as the one piece of furniture the ground floor did not have to buy. Both bedrooms sit upstairs, each with its own bathroom and built-in joinery, and each looking into planting rather than at a neighbour.
Materials were chosen for how they age in the tropics. Charcoal lava stone on the boundary walls, terrazzo in the bathrooms, timber joinery in a dark stain, and a render facade offered in terracotta or grey. Planting runs tight to every boundary, so the villa looks inward and the walls disappear behind it within a season or two.
Suku Residences is a nine-villa community in Uluwatu with shared security, a beach shuttle and butler service. The two-bedroom is the smallest of its three layouts, drawn for couples and for guests who want a whole villa rather than a room inside one.
