Villa Alhambra

This villa nails contemporary living with its sharp lines, bold layout, and smart design choices. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows flood the space with natural light, instantly making everything feel open and welcoming. The private pool sits perfectly at the heart of the outdoor area, bordered by a wooden deck.

Villa Alhambra shows the street a wall of stacked stone with a single arched gate set in a white rendered portal. Behind it, the four-bedroom house rises in three white storeys banded in charcoal, with an arched black steel window on the middle floor. Arches repeat through this modern tropical design, set against otherwise flat-roofed, squared-off volumes on a 500 m² plot in Bali.

At the back, a pool lined with green stone tiles is bordered by a timber deck with loungers, and vines trail from the upper floor over a dark timber soffit. A slatted timber pergola with fabric shades stands at the far corner beside an outdoor shower. Past the glazing, an open-tread timber stair on a black steel stringer climbs past a double-height wall of stacked stone, next to a dining table for six under rattan pendants.

The bedrooms use arched timber doors, curved headboards and full-height black steel glazing, and the kitchen sets an island with three stools against timber-slat cabinetry. One bathroom opens to the sky: a freestanding tub on terrazzo, a green-tiled spout wall and a frangipani tree, enclosed by rough stone walls. A covered terrace holds an L-shaped sofa, and a cabana with a breeze-block screen sits at the edge of the garden.
