Villa Candora

Three-bedroom Villa Candora, 247m² build. Architecture uses curved volumes against a clean white facade - unusual for the area, where most builds stay strictly orthogonal. Expansive glazing on the pool elevation; the pool itself is sized larger than the floorplate suggests it should be.

Villa Candora's upper floor is two white volumes with rounded corners, each cut by one wide arched window. They sit on a ground floor of black-framed glass, and on the entrance side a round tower clad in rough stone carries three tall arched windows over the stair. The design gives the pool a curved step and a shallow sun ledge with in-water loungers, and a timber deck runs between the pool and the house.

The stair gets the most attention inside. It climbs through a double-height hall behind a full-height screen of timber battens, with the tall arched windows behind it and a bed of ferns planted at its foot. A gallery landing overlooks the living and dining space below, where woven pendants hang in a cluster over a long timber table and the kitchen runs along one wall.

Arches carry through the rest of the plan, in the timber doors, the plaster niches and the black-framed mirrors. The bedroom renders include a room with bunk beds and one with twin beds, and the main suite has a seating area under exposed timber beams. Bathrooms in this three-bedroom Modern Tropical design for Bali pair stacked stone walls with pale plaster, and the main one sets a freestanding bath beside an arched window.
