Villa Nakula 2

Four-bedroom Villa Nakula, 300m² build. Modern tropical detailing with off-form concrete walls offset by natural timber joinery. White and soft beige carry through every room. Built 2022.

Three storeys of Villa Nakula 2 rise around a long, narrow side courtyard that is almost all pool, which is how four bedrooms and 300 m² of floor area fit on a 150 m² plot in Bali. A dark-stained timber deck runs along the glazed edge of the house, pale stepping slabs cross the water at one end, and the opposite wall carries a raised planter of tall cacti and palms under a white breeze-block screen.

Balitecture designed this modern tropical villa with a restrained palette: white render, a feature wall of grey split-face stone, black-framed sliding doors and soffits lined in woven matting under each overhang. Trailing plants spill from the upper balconies behind glass balustrades. Beside the pool, an outdoor bath in pale stone sits on white pebbles against a dark stone wall, with a bamboo ladder for towels.

Bedrooms and the dining area have raked timber-rafter ceilings that meet at a central point, ringed with concealed lighting, and slatted timber panelling runs behind the beds. The kitchen combines timber cabinetry with a concrete-look island and stools. The roof terrace, screened by vertical timber fins, holds a long timber table and bench, an outdoor kitchenette and a round rattan daybed, looking over neighbouring rooftops toward a green field.
