Modern Tropical
Villa Nakula 3
About the Project
Modern Tropical
Design
Four-bedroom Villa Nakula iteration, 300m² build, built 2023. Same modern tropical idiom as Nakula 1 and 2: white, soft beige, natural timber, off-form concrete. The differences sit in the joinery details rather than the overall plan.
Four bedrooms on 150 m² of land means going up, and Villa Nakula 3 rises three storeys. The ground floor opens onto a narrow pool that runs the length of the house, with a timber deck on one side and planting along a white breeze-block boundary wall on the other. Square stepping pads cross the water at one end, and a wall of split stone stands at the head of the pool.
Inside, the main rooms sit under hipped timber ceilings with battens radiating from the centre. The living area has a built-in L-shaped bench and a root-wood coffee table, the dining table is solid timber, and pale split-stone panels run beside the TV wall. Bedrooms continue the timber ceilings, with four-poster frames or upholstered benches at the foot of the bed and cushioned daybeds under the windows.
One bathroom puts a freestanding tub out on white pebbles among broad-leaf plants; another pairs timber slats with a stone wall and a brass tap. The top floor has a terrace with a round daybed and a timber table looking out over the neighbouring roofs. Balitecture designed the villa as the third in its Nakula series of Modern Tropical houses, using the same white, beige and natural timber palette as the first two.
