Villa Nitso

This villa has been designed to fully embrace Bali's famed scenery and glorious tropical weather. With a large glass ceiling, the villa will be full of light year-round and ensures the inside gardens will flourish. There is also a large rooftop terrace and bar, perfect for entertainment.

From the street, Villa Nitso reads as a stack of boxes: a long upper volume clad in timber boards over white walls, a dark stone wall in front of the garden and a flush timber garage door. Up on the roof of this four-bedroom Modern Balinese design for Bali, a gabled pavilion is glazed on one half, with glass panels on a steel frame in place of a solid roof.

Under that glass sits a bar with a long timber counter and a low lounge. The other half of the pavilion is closed, with a timber-clad gable end. Around it, the renders mark out a timber deck and a lawn labelled for sunbathing and mini golf. Below the glazing, a palm grows up through the stair void, so daylight reaches the planting below.

The living and dining room is a double-height space with a timber ceiling and a long low sofa, and the planted stairwell connects the floors. A pool with an overflow edge sits along one side of the house. Bedrooms are lined in timber panelling with full-height glass, and the bathrooms use large grey tiles, long floating vanities and a freestanding bath.
