Villa Sky

This is a renovation project, which used most of the original structure, but with significant modifications to ensure it created a modern tropical design. Both the external facades and internal spaces have been reworked as part of the renovation design.

Villa Sky is a renovation design for a narrow, three-storey house in Bali, reworking an existing structure inside and out. On the street front, the renders add a vertical timber slat panel, a glazed box in a dark frame with a planter of trailing greenery beneath it, a column of grey split-face stone and a panel of patterned terracotta and white blocks. Slatted timber doors close the ground floor under a flat canopy.

At the top, a hipped grey roof with a timber fascia covers part of the floor, and the rest opens to a roof terrace through folding glass doors behind glass balustrades. At the back, a pergola of rough timber posts with a slatted top shades an upper terrace, a timber-clad fascia runs along the balcony edge, and the ground-floor terrace has a hanging egg chair beside a small pool.

Indoors, timber-framed windows, exposed ceiling beams and timber joinery warm the white walls. The kitchen has a white island with four stools on a patterned floor, a backlit perforated screen sits behind the television, and the stairs range from a timber-tread flight with black balusters to a spiral with timber treads. Bedrooms in this four-bedroom Modern Balinese scheme have timber headboard walls, macramé hangings and rattan pendants, and one has a bed with drawers beneath it beside a desk.
